This is a real good lesson from the School Of Hard Knocks. You don't forget these things.

Lucas fuse broken "I cannot believe what the problem was. I was going through the checklist --- and decided to take the fuse out and inspect it again. It looked good until I went to put it back in. Then it came off in my hand (picture). I replaced with a 30A, temporarily as it was all I had, wiper motor came on as soon as I turned on the ignition and wiper switch. LS turn signal worked and the flasher clicked. Conservatively, I have 16 hours trying to get the dash electric working. Never again will I reuse a fuse on a project. I would have posted a picture of the rest of the fuse but it didn't look so good after impact and crush with my heel".

But he had tested it. It showed voltage on the output side with a test light, just wouldn't carry the load when the circuit was switched on.
