This article was prompted by enough people who apparently weren't aware that the brake and clutch (and accelerator) pedals have return springs inside the cockpit. Part of the instructions for adjusting the master cylinder pushrods calls for a small amount of clearance at the pushrods and freeplay at the pedals. To accomplish this the pedals must have return springs to pull them to top of travel in order to leave the pushrods a tad loose. The picture shows where and how these springs are installed.
