"The coupe window frame is connected to the top of the door at the front by a small right-angle steel tab by a self-tapper. The right-angle tab is held to the window channel by two rivets. To re-chrome the frame, the right-angle tab needs to be removed from the brass channel. Replacing the rivets is a bit of a challenge because they are set in the side of the channel where access is not easy. I made a tool with a setting nipple inset near the end of a piece of flat bar that slides into the channel. By using a press on the bar while the nipple is in the hollow section of the rivet, the rivet can be set. You need to support the head while pressing on the bar. I think others have resorted to screws as an alternative to the rivets but this method allows retention of the original fixing method. I used brass rivets because they are softer than stainless and if you make a mistake, it is much easier to drill them out again for another attempt.
