I would like to thank all concerned for the fabulous day last Saturday at Chobham re. the 60th anniversary of the press launch day, no individual names as I will leave someone out. I cannot commend these people enough. It was a one off because as is known the site is now going to be " bulldozed". The site at the moment is a time warp almost as it was back then.
I tried to be sensible (quite novel for me) and limited my speeds to around the permitted 70 MPH but in a copy of Autosport 18/7/58 speeds of 110 MPH were reached by Gregor Grant (the editor) and John Bolster (Technical and road tests ). John Bolster also drove EX 181 there on the day running on "cooking" fuel. The display in the lower room of the control tower was excellent including footage of the event back in 1958.
The meal at the pub afterwards was also a good time to talk to people I had either not met before or had not seen for a long time. Thanks again and the date was also right, 14th July. -- Someone correct me but 38 Twin Cams was mentioned.
Cheers,
Dick

Many thanks on behalf of the origanising committee Dick amp; Bruce. Attached is one photo of me waffling on. Glad you enjoyed the original silent film from 1958. Alas Reuters seem to have misplaced this now so you were fortunate to have watched it, as it's subject to copyright.
There were 40-ish cars entered (a couple on the day) and about 20 in the car park & the notable cars against the fence. Cheers
Mark

Just to give anyone that could not make it to the event a flavour. It was better than the pictures suggest.
Cheers,

Here's a nice shot of 4 Deluxes which were also present. The two red one's are factory demonstrators. Precisely who they were demonstrated to remains a mystery.

Classic & Sports Car magazine had the exclusive rights. Not sure how quick they go to press but can't imagine its long.
