The MGA With An Attitude
MGA Guru Is GOING MOBILE
46th MGs On The Rocks, Street, MD - (September 27, 2025)
We met the gang from Drrell's Garage at the Village Green Family Restaurant in York, PA just before 7-am.They tell me I just missed a picture of beautiful red/orange sky sunrise by a few minutes. When we strolled inside at 7-am, navigator noticed opening time on the door said 5-am. Been here several times before, but never knew we could come a little earlier for breakfast. But table service was good, so we were all in and out in hour. Only ten cars in the caravan this time running from York PA to Street, MD.

Being the 38th consecutive year for this event, The organizers had their act together, beginning with multiple runners asking "Pre-registered or not"? Pre-registered had already signd the event liability wiver (done electronically on line in our case), so the runner quickly grabbed our registration packet, and we were were immediately directed into the show grounds. Good start.

There were a few parts, vendors, a couple of food vendors, the club regalia and information table, and the sailor girl sselling cookies (will get back to them a little later).

Photo at right has half a dozen cars in the "Car Coral", most of those bearing "For Sale" signs.
The three pictures below are cars in the "Premier Class", meaning they were First in Class last year, or Best of the Best, Gotta love these cars if you are a concours enthusiast.

Getting into the vintage MGs, which must have included a few MMM cars as well as the MG T-types. And there was a 1953 MG TD Airline Coupe. I didn't know there was such a thing, so I asked, and all they said was, "There it is". Well. that may indeed be correct, as "it" seems to be a one of a kind lovingly hand built creation of a model the factory never built. but if they ever did, this is what it should look like. So I quiut the conversation there, as I do not want to disrespect it by calling it 'resto-mod". --- Doing some research later, I found some postings on the MG Experience web site Pre-War and T-Type forum from miid year 2015. If this is the same car then the known history is, we know who built it, and when it was sold on after the builder's demise, the idea that it has been repainted a couple of times, and that the hosting car club might know the current oner.

At least nine MG Midget, a few with rubber bumbers.

Seven MGA (that I could find, a white Coupe, a black Coupe, a BRG roadster, and four red roadsters, at least two were 1600-MK-II, one of which may have the earlier grille, no Twin Cam.

One MG ZB Magnette Varitone, parked near the Midgets, before I took a break for a little walk around.

Just looking for snacks, and regalia, maybe a t-shirt or two.

Back to the photo chores, looking at early production MGB, then mid production MGB.

Lots oif late production rubber bumper MGB this time.

The BGT guys must have had their heads together in advance, with a great showing.

Maybe only one MGC, but there were a few MGB V8 vonversions. Being an MG show, the "Other British" class was interesting. One TVR, a few Morgan, at least one Sunbeam Tiger.

A modern Mini, don't miss the McLaren, and a Jensen Healey.

There was the 1976 Jensen GT, the little port wagon the Brits like to call "shooting brake", and a 1954 Aston Martin DB 2/4?

How bout a 2018 Lotus Evora 400, and some Triumph TR2, TR3, TR4.

What's that tucked in between the two or three TR8?

TheTR250 and TR6 cars were out in force.

A few Austin Healey Sprite, two bug-eye and one flat bonnet, and more Big Healey than I could catch all together.

Jaguar well represented, at least one E-type Coupe, a couple of open ones, and I think a few F-type (maybe).

I finally got back to the sailor girls to pick up a yummy lemon bar and some chocolat chip cookies, while the pavillion was keeping folks in the shade.

As a crowning jewel for the day, I was given the President'a Award. Unfortuntely they had misplaced it for a while,so there was no piblic presentation, but they did mail it to me later. I recon it will ultimately be stashed in the thophy room at Darrell's Garage.
