June 17. We finally get to tackle the Dalton Highway. The locals just call it The Haul Road. It runs along the pipeline for 425 miles heading up to Prudhoe Bay, and this was just the beginning. The road is mostly paved with crushed rock with sharp edges. Just 15 miles on this road and the trailer gets a blowout. The tire was cut through on the inside sidewall. This is not a rainy day. They water the roads to keep the dust down.
