July 3, midnight - The Yukon River at Circle on the end of the Steese Highway. Circle was named slightly in error, because this is still about 50 miles south of the Arctic Circle. It is, however, the farthest northern point on the Yukon River that is accessible by automobile. Here the river is fairly wide, and sea planes are popular.
