"Just a word of warning to any one wanting to fit a Moss stainless steel boot rack. They arrive with bolts only 12 mm long that do not allow a full nut connection. The nuts are not stainless and the plated washers are too large to fit inside the U channel of the stiffening frame, in short all 3 items should be replaced with the correct stainless steel items.

"I was dealing with Moss UK (Europe) and did talk to the correct guy on the phone. His excuse was that they were the fittings supplied by their supplier. He also said he would have sent replacement parts but they did not stock the longer bolts, ss nuts or correct diameter ss washers. He did say he would take the matter up with the supplier. I sent him photo's of the original bolt in situ showing it being short and also explained about the mismatch of materials and washer size and was rewarded with a free voucher to the approx value of the new parts and so was happy but would be more so if he can put things right for future buyers".

Note from Barney:
Using metric fasteners on these new parts rubs me the wrong way, but at least this one does not require carrying metric tools in your traveling tool kit.
Mounting fasteners included in the kit are:
(10 ea) Hex Head Bolt, 8mm x 1.25 x 12mm, Stainless Steel
(6 ea) Flat Washer, 8mm x 25mm OD, Plated
(6 ea) Hex Nut, 8mm x 1.25, Plated
Mounting fasteners should be:
(4 ea) Hex Head Bolt, 8mm x 1.25 x 12mm, Stainless Steel - or 5/16-24-UNF x 3/4"
(6 ea) Hex Head Bolt, 8mm x 1.25 x 20mm, Stainless Steel - or 5/16-24-UNF x 3/4"
(6 ea) Flat Washer, 8mm x 21mm OD, Stainless Steel - or 5/16 x 13/16" OD
(6 ea) Hex Nut, 8mm x 1.25, Stainless Steel - or 5/16-24-UNF

Kester Marsh has already notified Moss UK of the problem. I will also notify Moss USA.

"They buy these from a supplier in the UK. While we can update the stock we have per your suggestion, a long term solution will require the cooperation of the supplier. I will sort this out and let you known what action has been taken here in the short term, and what will be initiated to resolve this in the long term".

This must have been low priority. Correct response, but six months for the reply. Perhaps now the Moss USA kits will be shipped with functional fasteners. Any additional information from consumers would be appreciated.

Addendum, January 2, 2023:
Just a follow up, another 11 years on, and still no fix. These kits are still being shipped (at least Moss UK and France) with metric fasteners, most of which do not fit, so the rack cannot be installed as received. Good example of exactly how much Moss Motors cares about quality or customer satisfaction (zilch). I thought that at least Moss USA was going to put together the appropriate fastener kit to be included with the rack kit so it could be installed as received, but apparently it never happened. You will still have to spend a day shopping for your own fasteners if you ever want to install this kit.
